James’ Story
James thought he may have ADHD. All his life, he had struggled with concentration and communicating with others, and as an adult, found workplaces challenging.
After James read a LawCare article on neurodiversity, he was reassured that he wasn’t alone and there was support available and people who understood. James spoke to someone at LawCare who did understand. They discussed adaptations (under the 2010 Equality Act) and offered other helpful advice.
Next, he contacted The Solicitors’ Charity who offered funded therapy for earlier trauma he had suffered and help getting a formal ADHD diagnosis.
With ADHD recognition, he began to secure better working conditions. He felt more confident in seeking out ADHD-friendly employers that would value his unique contribution.
