Legal Aid Campaigner and The Solicitors’ Charity Trustee, Audrey Ludwig, Receives MBE at Windsor Castle
The Solicitors’ Charity is proud to report that one of their trustees, Audrey Ludwig MBE, received her MBE medal from The Princess Royal, Anne, at Windsor Castle this month for her services to legal aid in Suffolk. It was the first investiture of 2026.
Audrey Ludwig MBE commented: “It was a long day, but everyone was so welcoming and full of congratulations. All the recipients had clearly given years of service to their communities. Everyone dressed up and the families with them were all looking proud.”
She went on to say about The Princess Royal: “HRH Princess Anne had worked all day (back-to-back events unusually), so is still fit and yet unhurried with each recipient. She asked me about my home and the geographical reach of Suffolk Law Centre.”
Audrey joined the Board of The Solicitors’ Charity last year. She qualified as a solicitor in 1990 and practiced on all aspects of equality law from 2006 until retiring in 2024. She founded Suffolk Law Centre, which provides free and legally aided legal services. To recognise this, in June 2025, she was awarded the MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List. She now runs Audrey Ludwig Training and Consulting Limited and trains many different groups including lawyers, advice workers, letting agents, midwives, Independent Office of Police Conduct, and disabled people.
