I. Stephanie Boyce CBE Appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire
The Solicitors’ Charity is delighted to share that its Chair, I. Stephanie Boyce CBE, has been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire.
As one of five appointed, the Deputy Lieutenants will support HM Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, The Countess Howe, in promoting the wellbeing of local communities and strengthening connections across the county. These roles are awarded to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service, leadership and a commitment to public life.
Stephanie’s appointment reflects not only her achievements within the legal profession, but her long-standing commitment to fairness, inclusion, access to justice and service. As the first person of colour to serve as President of the Law Society of England and Wales, she has played a significant role in shaping conversations around diversity, social mobility and representation within the profession.
These themes are closely aligned with the work of The Solicitors’ Charity, which exists to support those working in the legal community through moments of personal, professional and financial difficulty. As the demands on the profession continue to evolve, so too does the importance of recognising the people behind it, their wellbeing, their resilience, and their ability to thrive in a changing environment.
Stephanie’s work, both within the profession and in the wider community, reflects this broader perspective. Alongside her national and international roles, she has remained closely connected to where she lives in Buckinghamshire, supporting local organisations and contributing to initiatives that strengthen community wellbeing and cohesion.
Commenting on the appointment, Stephanie said: “It is an honour to be asked to serve as a Deputy Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire. My particular interest is in working with educational establishments to promote careers in the professional sector and celebrating those who give so much to our communities, and helping ensure that our civic institutions are visible, inclusive, inspiring the next generation to consider working within our justice system.
I look forward to supporting the work of the Lieutenancy and continuing to contribute to the communities and organisations that make the county such a special and vibrant place.”
At The Solicitors’ Charity, we are proud to work alongside Stephanie as she champions the wellbeing of individuals across the legal profession and beyond.
